1 GEMSTONE: The emerald, from Hebrew nophek; to glisten, shining. It is a bright green variety of beryla highly valued gemstone. The emerald is harder than quartz, softer than topaz; much softer than a diamond. Its high value is based upon transparency and freedom from flaws. It speaks of eternal royalty formed over centuries by suffering, endurance, and friction hard trials and testing. Judah was born of Leah and was the fourth son of Jacob.
2 NAME IN HEBREW SCRIPT: Judah
3 LEFT STREAMER: Judah (Hebrew jadah) means praise. And she [Leah] conceived again and bore a son and said, This time I will praise the Lord. Therefore she named him Judah. Then she stopped bearing. (Genesis 29:35) The scripture calls Yeshua the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah. (Revelation 5:5)
4 PAINTING: (see next page)
5 RIGHT STREAMER: The sign is the scales. The scales stand for justice, which is reflected in the law which came through and was taught by the tribe of Levi. (Deuteronomy 25:15) The law (teaching) will go forth from Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. (Isaiah 2:3-4; Micah 4:2-3)
6 TRIBAL SYMBOL: The image on the banner for Levi is the breastplate containing the gemstones of the twelve tribes, which is worn by the high priest over his heart. (Exodus 28:15-21)
7 ASPECT OF THE GOSPEL: Redeemer. To redeem means to buy back. For you were bought at a price... (I Corinthians 6:20)

THE JUDAH PAINTINGJudah is the largest, most powerful, and most referenced of the tribes of Israel. The painting is simple, but powerful. (Revelation 5:5) What could have been portrayed on the banner is, of course, Yeshua as the Lamb slain before the foundation of the earth. (Revelation 13:8) As with Benjamin, Yeshua is fully God and fully Man. Yeshua our Messiah is simultaneously the triumphant and powerful King of kings and also the Lamb slain for the redemption and forgiveness of sin. Note on the Lion: The whelp is playful, under its mothers protection, and learning to protect itself. Born with its eyes closed, afraid of its shadow, mild diet, yelping, no indication of royal birth. The young lion is full-grown physically in one year when its canines develop self-confident, foolish, roaring, terrorizing, his own worst enemy. The adult, mature lion is in its physical prime at five to six years. It continues to gain intelligence and wisdom; gradually gaining honor, respect, and ultimately majesty. Its life span is approximately 25 years. This pattern also is similar to the life of a saint who reaches his or her full potential, calling, and destiny in God.

THE PROPHECIES OF JUDAH
Fourth Son Born to Jacob by Leah
Prophecy by Jacob
"Judah, you are he whom your brothers shall praise; your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; your father's children shall bow down before you. Judah is a lion's whelp; from the prey, my son, you have gone up. He bows down, he lies down as a lion; and as a lion, who shall rouse him? The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to Him shall be the obedience of the people. Binding his donkey to the vine, and his donkey's colt to the choice vine, he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes. His eyes are darker than wine, and his teeth whiter than milk. (Genesis 49:8-12)
"Hear, LORD, the voice of Judah, and bring him to his people; let his hands be sufficient for him, and may You be a help against his enemies." (Deuteronomy 33:7)
